Portfolio Diet


Portfolio Diet Advice:
  • Works well with a low fat diet & a statin for lowering cholesterol.
  • Has been shown to improve the lipid profile.
  • Not clear if it helps prevent cardiovascular disease.
Recommended foods:
  • 30g of almonds ~ 23 almonds.
  • 50g of soya protein - ie soya milk, yoghurts, soya mince & tofu.
  • 20g of soluble fibre as found in oats, pulses & beans.
  • 2g of plant sterols - i.e. special yoghurts, drinks & spreads.
